Relationships of the degree of participation, sports commitment, and happiness in the amateur of badminton club

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of the degree of participation, sports commitment, and happiness in the amateur of badminton club. The subjects were 396 adults aged over 20 year-old who participated in community-based badminton clubs in Seoul and Gyeongin City, Korea in 2010. In terms of the composition of questionnaire papers, frequency, period, and time were set as questions in relation to the participation of badminton club. As the scale of sports commitment, the scale, revised and developed by Jeong Jong Gak (1998) based on ESCM of Scanlan. et al(1993) was used, while as the scale of happiness, the Happy Life Scale (HLS), developed by Diener(1984), Ryff(1989), was revised and complemented by Kim Myong So(2003) in accordance with Korean situation. The validity of the questionnaire papers was verified through the specialists' meeting, the pilot survey, and factor analysis. As statistical analysis was conducted through factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis by SPSS 18.0. Results obtained are as follows: Firstly, the frequency of badminton participation would affect sports commitment, Secondly, participation frequency and participation period would affect happiness. Thirdly, sports commitment would affect happiness.
